I feel like saying: Elephants.
Since the outlaw of rain-forest logging in 1990, mahouts and elephants suddenly lost their job and are now even more endangered.
The story has certainly been covered often but It could benefit from a different angle.
I spent some time with elephants in Thailand this year. Email me if you would like some details.

Oh, yes elephants, I was thinking about elephants keeper also. Thanks Enrique.
I have to read more about it. Do elephants keepres speak english in thailand? There will be problem with communication?
thanks

Do anyone have any information about transsexual community in thailand?
|
You won’t have many problems to communicate in english except maybe in the rural areas. Try to learn some basic thai words and phrases, it can open many doors!

Marcin,
An organization called SWING does educational work with transexuals who are former prostitutes. The drop-in center is located on Pat Pong, 5th floor of Building #3 (next to Superpussy…no, seriously, it really is next to a place called Superpussy). Phone: +66(0)2632-9502.

You know, putting transexual former prostitutes next to a sign that says ‘Superpussy’ might be considered false advertising.
|
Will,
Thanks, Do you have any e-mail to this organization? I have contact to surgery hospitals only in Bangkok and Phuket. I will have not too much time to make some big material, but I want to get some networks for future. Meet some people.
thanks

Street elephants are good and trans-sexuals. Usual stuff though. Try salt farming in Samut Songkhram province (80 or so kms south of Bangkok). Spectacular pics of salt fields and stories of struggling business in traditional areas (like this one) and illegal salt farming affecting mangrove swamps in protected coastal areas. Not sure where they are as yet, can`t remember!
If you have time to head south to the areas around Krabi and down towards the Malasian border you have the Muslim sea-gypsies living out their unique lifestyle.
Lots to do in Thailand.
Take care Damon

Many thanks for ideas!

Hi Marcin,
Hope my recommendation is not too late. Have you ever heard of Lion fighters? Cambodia’s ancient martial art. Bokator. The grand master Sean Kim San, returned to Cambodia and founded the Cambodian Yuthkun Federation.
Take care,
Janos

Hi Janos
Thank you.
It’s not too late, because I want to return to Cambodia as soon as it will be possible. I am considering a big trip to southeast asia, including Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, Laos, Indonesia. But of course it depends on finances. Maybe next year. who knows? I love this part of world and I want work there.
So, I will keep all of your informations.
Big thanks
