The Making of a Photo Book: An Interview with David Hartung

I recently made a short video about the publication David Hartung’s photo book “Macau: Work in Progress.” The clip is built around an interview with David about the process of compiling the book and finding a publisher.

My goal in filming the project was to create something visually interesting while also providing some insight into the path David followed to bring his book from concept to completion.

Hope it’s informative.

Nice one, Forbes. Informative. Thanks.

Anything looks better with Beethoven’s No. 7 in the background ; )

Cheers

Thanks Nacho. I figured that if I used the 7th, the clip would at least sound good, if nothing else.

You also avoid having to pay for use of the composition!

In case anyone would like to look through the title, I’ve helped David create a website where Macau: Work in Progress is available to order in the US.

The book was available via Amazon before but their fee is so high that list price had to be around $100 for the publisher to break even… The distribution we have set up with Pearl River Gallery is much lower cost; hopefully we can also distribute other niche, limited print run photo books from Asia in the future.
