Travel Case for Bowens strobes
|
I have got myself a Bowens Esprit 500 2 head kit with a travel battery pack. I want to get a rugged travel case for the 2 heads, pack , cables etc. I have been looking at the Pelican 1650 and 1660.. any other suggestions?

Thanks for asking, Siddarth. I have a similar kit and would be curious to hear replies…

Hello,
look at the Aircases Tenba is selling. Not cheap, but worth every cent you spend.
I have two of them, for three heads and one for two, and using them a lot for flying around, I didn’t have any broken modeling light bulb or anything else damaged in years.
They get used hard, but still look not to bad, really durable.

so they are ok to check in the hold when flying? I am asking because these seem to be soft cases as opposed to the unbreakable Pelican cases..

Yes, yes, you can check them in. I always do.
They are very well padded. You can even stand on them, when the lid is open.
But buy the Aircase, I’ve got the Carcase as well and it is less padded and I wouldn’t try to leave this one to any luggage handler to throw around the airport….

hmm…ok.. i will check out the aircase..thanks Heinrich!

….and by the way, by using apelican case you have to have a lot of padding inside, because the case itself doesn’t eat any shock or hit….

Hi Siddarth. I have two Bowens Gemini heads which I think are pretty similar to Esprits. They fit nicely into a Peli 1650 with dividers (not foam) along with location packs, cables, PWs, a few lenses etc. It’s a great case and it’s done a few miles in the air without any problems.
The case itself is quite heavy though. I’m considering selling the Bowens and getting something lighter as the whole thing weighs in at 38kg – 2kg over the limit on most airlines.
