580 An exciting new project aims to give African journalists a voice in the global media in the build-up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. View images: http://bit.ly/qjRst Twenty Ten is a multidisciplinary media project that focuses on strengthening African journalists from the disciplines of writing, radio reporting and photography, and distributing their articles, images, broadcasts and multimedia productions to media across Africa and the world. 108 journalists from 34 African nations are attending workshops around the continent which coincide with qualifying matches for the tournament. 18 of them will be invited to South Africa to cover the event on the ground during June and July 2010. The photographs produced during the project are being distributed by Panos Pictures in association with our partner agency Africa Media Online. The images in this feature were taken in Ghana in September 2009. A dozen photographers from across the continent travelled to the Accra workshop, which was directed by Panos photographer Chris de Bode and Pulitzer Prize winner Greg Marinovich. As the project develops over the coming months, pictures from each new stage will be posted in the Panos archive.
