Fellowship Area: Social Marketing and Media Activism
Digital Activism
We are seeking a UK entrepreneur to engage with the fellowship online from the beginning of January via the project’s digital forum, sharing research with the other fellows and brainstorming over Skype, Facebook, Twitter etc., before travelling to Delhi on 25 January. The purpose is to bring in social media expertise, actively work on solutions, design a workshop with other fellows and help with the project’s presentation at the UnBox Conference.
Who? Social media experts and enthusiasts, interactive designers specialising in web and online, and those working in digital advertising and marketing and creative/digital media.
What? This fellowship is an opportunity to work with Breakthrough, a leading activism and advocacy team, to help them develop an awareness raising online strategy for their highly successful media campaign, Bell Bajao. Breakthrough is a global human rights organization that uses the power of media, pop culture, and community mobilization to inspire people to take bold action for dignity, equality, and justice. Ogilvy & Mather partnered with Breakthrough to create Bell Bajao public service advertisements that have won awards in advertising festivals like Cannes, London International Advertising, Spikes Asia, Goa Fest Abby and Effies. As a highly successful media campaign it now needs to sustain itself as an online project that leverages social media, marketing and other design or web trends. The fellowship will involve exploring how brands need to be marketed in a manner that promotes social impact and raises awareness without losing its spark. Selected fellows will work closely with Breakthrough staff to research and find a solution.
Outputs: Fellows will share their findings and ideas through mediums that can be exhibited during the UnBox Festival (for example posters, films or a part of the online strategy that can be showcased at UnBox).
