VII DUMBO Grand Opening, Friday February 29th (3-6:30pm)

We are pleased to announce the official opening of VII DUMBO, starting with a sneak peak on Friday, February 29th from 3-6:30pm.

the following photographers will be on hand to sign books and answer questions…

Lauren Greenfield
Marcus Bleasdale
Ron Haviv
Christopher Morris
Jessica Dimmock

and many more…

What is VII DUMBO? First of all, it is the new location of VII’s NY office. In addition, we will operate a street level gallery space and a bookstore for photojournalism. Visitors will be able to see printed works by the VII photographers hanging on the walls (selected by Hasted Hunt), as well as buy books by VII photographers and other noted photojournalists. We plan to use the space for events such as panel discussions, book signings, lectures and workshops. The simple idea is that we want to create a physical place in NY, where we can support and promote photojournalism.

We look forward to seeing you in VII DUMBO, starting February 29th at 3pm. We will also be open on weekends, to accommodate weekend visitors. The address is 28 Jay Street in the DUMBO district (2 blocks west of the YORK STREET stop on the F line).

davin need to ask, where do you shop? Cause I just gotta know where do you get the balls?

Heres a thought if you are serious, try PM.

Youve got to be fucking kidding me. First off, I know Chris and Jessica, and they are not only brilliant photographers but amazing people. The VII members take a lot more into consideration when considering membership- in either the agency or the Network- then just talent, which they all have in spades. Personality, dedication, level of commitment to the craft, yes marketability- it is a business and needs to survive- ability to work together- all go into play. Yes, if you want to apply, PM Frank.

Dear Davin,

With all the useless cloak and dagger competition in this industry, the last thing anyone needs or wants to see is the public bashing of another colleagues work—that is absolutely unprofessional and downright pedestrian.

I can only hope you did not originally have these intentions, regardless please do consider how many thousands of people read these posts per day—whatever you have to say of the merit of your work or anyone else’s you are likely creating bad blood in doing so with such a manner.

“Dumbo looks like an awesome space. I know where I’ll head when I get to NYC.”

Hasted Hunt is hanging our first show tomorrow, which I believe will include new prints by Marcus Bleasdale and Franco Pagetti…very exciting. This will be what we call the VII permanent collection, and these prints will always be up whenever we are between shows. Next up is Alex Boulat’s MODEST. More on this later.

Will post new pictures as they come in.

Great, thanks :))…i really look forward to seeing the pics, and only wish we could be down in the city: that’d be 2 exhibitions in a week that my heart is there in absence:

the LS show and the VII show….

but, when we’re down (May), will drop by for sure! :))

good luck y’all!

Just added some shots of the space with the new VII show installed. Not all of the work is visible, but you get the idea.

Thanks, Bob.

We are expecting a strong turnout by both VII and VII Network photogs for tomorrow’s opening (Friday, 2/29 from 3pm – 6pm). So, if you have been looking for an excuse to come out to DUMBO and check out our new space, this is it. Bear in mind that we close at 6:30pm sharp and open up again on Saturday at 10am.

I have added some more pics.
