Weekend workshop at Columbia J-school: Reporting Safely in Crisis Zones

hi all, passing this on from the good folks at Columbia University’s Journalism school:

On behalf of the Continuing Education Department at the JournalismSchool, we invite you to register for our weekend-long workshop from October 19-21 entitled Reporting Safely in Crisis Zones. The Rory Peck Trust and Canadian Journalism Forum on Violence and Trauma are generously supporting the course, by awarding a limited number of bursaries to worthy, serious candidates, particularly freelancers, who wish to think critically about how to work in volatile situations, such as a war or disaster zones, with an emphasis on harm prevention. Additional areas to be covered are risk assessment, trauma, cyber-security, emergency first-aid, and assault prevention.??

To register for the intensive workshop and to find out more details on scholarships, please visit our website here: http://bit.ly/CUjournalistsafety.

Direct all questions to ce@jrn.columbia.edu.

If you are working in conflict situations, and can get to NYC this October, you definitely should sign up for this….
