April 15th and 16th, 10am – 5pm
Antonin Kratochvil, Founder of VII Photo Agency
UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism
The course will focus on creating a story in the field. He will outline methods for choosing a story line and subject matter under pressure and how to make the best of a “foreign situation.
The next level of instruction will be about the details of breaking down the barriers between photographer and subject…creating intimacy and cutting to the quick. Part of one day will be spent “on walk-aboutâ€? with those students who wish to observe how Kratochvil works in the field which is as valuable, or even more valuable as spending the whole weekend in the classroom.
Students should bring their portfolios for a review and critique by Kratochvil. Please bring no more than 20 images in print form as CD’s are so hard to work with in this situation. This workshop is for experienced and emerging photographers, photojournalists and students.
