I’m looking primarily for someone to collaborate with who might be interested in writing this story. I have sorted my connections in Iraq already.

Kamil, I have experience working abroad and am heavily, internationally published in the written word with strong photography skills as well. I have experience working in harsh and hostile environments and am ready to travel.

Just emailed you with contact information.

Cheers.

Hi Kamil,

I find out this week (hopefully) If I will be going to Burma/Myanmar on a contract for 6 months. I will be looking to doing some writing and photography when I am out there. As an aside, do you or anyone else know if I am likely to have any problems taking pro SLRs into the country?

best wishes

Simon

Hi Simon,

I’ve never had any problems traveling in/around Burma with gear or SLRs. You should be totally fine. Be in touch while you’re there, I’ll be back in Thailand come November for some time and would love to help out on your project if paths cross.

Best,
Gaia

Depends really on the outcome of if this story can be written. It’s about a foreigner who was held ransom in Myanmar by the government over a business deal that went south and managed to escape from the border after years of fighting the case through the legal system to no avail. Obviously he was not at fault. He now works in Baghdad. The exit from Burma could make for a good story. I photographed the gentleman in Baghdad for sometime as well and am eager to return there. He also happens to be my father.

Hi Kamil,
Drop me a line with some more details, my friend writes for Newsweek and other big mags in the US and has worked a lot in Iraq. He could be interested….
