WV Coal Disaster Slide show & Presentation @ Bluestockings

Please come out to Bluestockings, Friday September 14, 7pm to meet Ed Wiley, Appalachian grandfather fighting for justice in West Virginia. Wiley formed PenniesofPromise.org to help raise money to build a new school for some 230 students at MArsh Fork Elementary School in Sundial, WV. The school sits dangerously close to a massive coal processing plant, 2.8 billion gallons of toxic sludge and a mountaintop removal site. Caskey is an independent photojournalist who will present her work addressing the human and environmental costs of Mountaintop Removal/Valley Fill coal mining in Appalachia.

My kids and I just returned form a screening of Michael Cusack O’Connell’s film ‘Mountain Top Removal’ at Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies. I saw your name listed in the credits as well as a few other familiar ones.

It was great being able to see and hear Ed Wiley and the work he’s doing on behalf of the children at Marsh Fork Elementary School.

Thanks again for the info and I look forward to seeing more of your work on this subject.
