Your inspirations on those 'flat' days.

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently stared at a local daily, and while it’s fun most days I’m finding there’s a noticeable increase of days in which its easy to fall into the cursed – ’that’ll do’ mindset. I figured I’d fire up a post here:

Are there any sources you stalkers stalk for inspiration in the news field? Compositional changes? Lighting shakeups? Speed hacks? Dump some recommendations here, I’m sure it’ll be a great resource if we pitch in :)

Go for a walk with one camera, and one single focal length lens. Carry a notebook for names, etc. That’s all you need. If you’re desperate go in the local bar and chat with the regulars. There’s always something going on.

Personally, I have decided that when I don’t “feel” it, I just don’t, and I stop. For me, it comes more from within, than from any external source. Deciding to stop sometimes just feels more honest :)

Raffaela – Luka is working for a daily newspaper. He can’t take the day off when he doesn’t “feel” like taking photographs.

In my heart I always what to capture images, but yes there are flat days; I go to a cafe write just a little and drink one cup of coffee & tea, take myself to a different road/street walk with camera, release the shutter just to here the sound, then start to shoot anything that strikes any interest. Most times something good happens.

John, you are right, I haven’t been articulated enough; what I meant was stopping to listen to myself, and find inspiration from within, not stopping taking pictures all together. :)
