About

I did not become a photojournalist until the age of 37, but started taking pictures at 12, in Lima, Peru. I studied filmmaking, art and photography at the University of Lima, East Carolina University, and Rochester Institute of Technology and Florida International University. Before 1987, I have been an advertising photographer in Lima, New York City, Fayetteville, N.C. and Miami Fl.
In 1987 I began working at The Miami Herald where I have been for the last 20 years. Recently I moved to Fayetteville NC.
