British Press Photographers Association

The British Press Photographers Association (BPPA) was founded in 1984 by UK press photographers and currently has over 400 members. It was founded to promote and inspire the highest ethical, technical and creative standards from within the profession. The BPPA provides its members with a voice to raise awareness and appreciation of our industry. The membership is drawn from every part of the country, and represents the broadest selection of newspaper, magazine and agency photographers. It is currently in consultation with other professional and public bodies, in addition to a wide range of industry suppliers, to establish mutually beneficial relationships and attractive member offers. We are committed to exhibiting and publishing our members work so that it can be appreciated for what it is - some of the finest news photography in the world. The BPPA works hard on several fronts to achieve its' aims of promoting every aspect of news photography. A combination of their website an regular email newsletters keeps members informed of what we are doing, as well as regular BPPA Commitee meetings (to which all members are welcome) in London with a growing network of regional meetings in cities like Birmingham and Bristol.
