I am a photojournalism student at WKU. I have taken that step from trying to, to doing. I have discovered that inner voice, the inner point of zen on which you rely for inspiration, and the confidence to put down the camera and be human when it’s needed.
I have been shooting since age 6 or 7 and learned photography on a non-metered rangefinder. I know more about film processing than I really want to. I shoot Nikon Digital(D200, 17-35, 70-200 vr, 50 1.8, 85 1.4, 35 2.0, sb-800s), a Konica S3 auto rangefinder, and a Pentax ME Super for a film beater.
I am intensely interested in becoming a humanitarian and conflict PJ. Think of a cross between Robert Capa without the drinking problem and W. Eugene Smith with out… well all of his problems. The idea that I have been gestating at the moment is a media firm that does contract work for NGOs. The idea is to bring down the cost of collecting images, sound, and video; while at the same time providing the design and construction and dissemination of effective media packages for not for profit charities and social change organizations.
