About

Richard Baker is an English reportage and documentary photographer living in London and working on editorial projects and commissions. He is perhaps best-known for his collaboration with Alain de Botton on The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work and for Red Arrows, his own book about Britain’s Royal Air Force aerobatic team (Dalton Watson, 2005).

While not assigned by image-led magazines and corporations, he tries to instinctively pursue projects that are geographical or merely themes on the incongruous and the everyday, while always having more than a passing thought for the aesthetics of aviation, industry and urban landscape.

His archive is hosted at Photoshelter and represented by Corbis and Alamy.

French Guiana malaria?

I’m flying to Cayenne/Kourou in a few weeks so I’ve topped up my Yellow Fever but my GP says I don’t need any Malaria prevention if I keep to the coast and not venture into the darkest interior.

“If you feel feverish, seek help immediately” said the doc, vaguely.

I took Chloroquin in Borneo and other Malarial locations years ago but I gather it’s no longer effective and my colleague is taking Malaroneso along so, do I have anything to worry about any of you who’s been there recently? Any working advice about FG would be much apopreciated too.

Thanks, Richard.
