OK … I am a British guy who has travelled to more than 20 countries since my teen years. I arrived in Thailand over 25 years ago, intending to spend about a year looking around, doing a little English teaching, before moving onwards to other places. I stayed! I thought, ‘Why go on looking for something else, when everything is already here?’ I was born in the UK (Birmingham, England) in the sixties?, but was never married there. When I came to live in Bangkok, after a while I met a Thai girl, and it was not too long after that that I became the proud father of a beautiful girl (now 12-years-old) … who is as cute as a Chinese dumpling, as I always tell everyone I meet. I nowadays look after her myself, as I am currently single. After a couple of years wandering around Thailand, travelling to distant provinces, doing the teaching, and learning to speak as much Thai as I could in such a short space of time, I was offered the chance to become the News Editor of a Bangkok-based magazine (of 30-years standing). The mag was called ‘Business in Thailand’, and I jumped at the opportunity. That initial foray, then, led me to enhance and improve my journalistic career with travel and writing work in Cambodia, Burma, Laos, and several other Southeast Asian countries. I subsequently returned to Thailand to take up work within such publications as; Hotel & Travel magazine; Kinnaree (the Thai Airways International domestic in-flight magazine); Forbes (Global); The Nation; The Sunday Times; Southeast Asia Traveller; CMP Media and the giant Charoen Phokphand Group (both as Website Editor); the Tourism Authority of Thailand; Living in Thailand, and LookEast, etc. I am very interested in the movie and entertainment industry, and have interviewed several well-known Hollywood, International, and Thai stars. I also work as an extra / actor in movies and TV ads myself! My ambition is to complete writing a book, to continue writing features about where I know best, as well as interviewing famous or interesting people who have a good story to tell … both from within Thailand, and also from around the world.
