Opening Reception “A Light unto the Nations,” a unique photo exhibit showcasing eight photographers — four Muslims and four Jews who have submitted a total of 26 images, mostly from the Middle East. The images are arranged around the theme of tolerance and the consequences of intolerance with the underlying theme “we can teach our children to love, or we can teach our children to hate†Information about the exhibit: http://www.contactphoto.com/view.php?eventid=964 ……………………………………………………………….. ……………………………………………………………….. “You have organized a poignant expression about faith and conviction in its most ordinary unscripted (and therefore universal) context (or circumstance) Congratulations on your accomplishments and best wishes on future success.†— Astaf Ahmad “To come into this exhibition, one needs to enter with a clear mind. This is because we all know and see the connection between all pieces that are exhibited here and can figure out the constant theme. However, only an open mind will allow you to truly look at the pieces and make your own conclusions. By making contributions to this showing, you are allowing open-minded people form their own ideas, without referring to those of the media. And, to that, we must thank you.†— Yazmin Islam “The photographs conveyed a lot of feeling, taking you to extremes with each different exhibitor†— Dana “What a fabulous exhibition I love the theme of bringing people together. The world needs more of thisâ€. — Asif Rehmaan “Beautiful and stunning work. Congrats!†— C Jones ( Special note – Charla Jones is a staff photojournalist at the Globe & Mail Newspaper) “I was going to the Emily Carr exhibition at the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) “At this time of cultural opposition this show is a handshake between foes, a strand of light amidst the darkness of indifference and intolerance†Thank you – Joel Thomson Religious Studies Master’s Student (him) History Masters Student (me) “Tearing myths apart; knitting us together.
