“A dynamic individual with an extensive experience of delivering image-based marketing communications and web-applications content/ solutions, Sanjay believes strongly in working to deliver the best possible solution to a set brief. His unique skillset and highly developed approach to successful project planning ,Research, management and delivery includes an understanding of visual and functional design, embracing clients and stakeholder needs.
Sanjay is passionate about everything he does. A photographer for over 25 years, Sanjay has built a successful career in a very competitive field by bringing a consistent vision to a very diverse client base. As both a corporate and journalistic photographer for clients that range from magazines to ad agencies, he thrives on the variety in the projects he tackles. “Every day is something different doing exactly what I love.” Sanjay says, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
As a photojournalist who has covered major national events over the past fifteen years. He brings with him the strength of experience and journalistic vision which is so crucial for covering news and feature events. He has not only worked in an individual capacity but also as a team leader where he has had to motivate a young lot of photographers. Both tasks require a different expertise and his track record speaks for itself. In The Pioneer he honed his skills as a photo editor.
Beginning as a freelancer in 1985 then to join as staffer he put in a stint over a decade with a leading national daily ‘The Hindustan Times’. Starting with the insurgency in Mizoram in 1986, he was one of the very few to have witnessed and captured on film memorable moments including the infamous operation ‘Black Thunder’ in Amritsar. Ayodhya figured prominently leading to the demolition of the ‘Babri Masjid’ and in its aftermath the Bombay blasts and riots. Kashmir has also been the focus of his attentions with several long and extensive stints, including the infamous ‘Hazratbal siege’. Right from the earthquakes in Uttarkashi and Latur to major sports events including the World Cup as well as the recent ‘Kargil conflict’ to name a few, he have virtually criss-crossed a very wide spectrum.
Sanjay has his own perspective, both visually and philosophically. “Posing people is fun. Seeing the way I go about framing that illusive great portrait, they get this quizzical look on their face, as if they’ve never seen that particular corner of their own office or home before, and then they smile. They see something that can only be communicated visually. They see what I see; I’ve influenced the way they look at the world.” His work on this front has been with several leading business houses of the country including the Birlas, Kirloskars and several prominent personalities.
Based in New Delhi, Sanjay shoots on both digital and conventional photography format for projects on local, regional , national and international levels for clients based all over the world on such diverse issues as Healthcare, Literacy, Development, IT, Current Affairs, Sports,Nature and Environment, and a range of personality portraits of the who’s who in India.
