You have to make scans and link them in Photoshop. You really need a medium format scanner for xpan. Using a Coolscan will be time consuming. . . Davin

Hey Jaka,
I rigged the 35mm tray neg tray by slicing off the last divider (nearest the side that slides in first) on each strip. I then masking taped the hole on the right hand edge (I am talking about the holes next to the arrow, these are the code for letting your scanner know which tray is going in), the right/hand hole is actually right in the middle of the edge of the tray, and finally I punched a new whole with an ice-pick in order to mimic the holes in the tray I use for 6×7. I can still use this tray for 35mm, I simply have to remove the masking tape and place it over the home-made whole. When doing the X-pan set-up be sure to choose the 6×7 option when you slide the tray in and then all you have to do is crop around the image after preview. A couple of warning signs go up and you loose a tiny bit of the image, but despite being increadibly crewd it works and does not damage the scanner. Check out my website for results: www.adamphotogallery.com all the subway series and some of the tourism stuff for example. Hope this helps.

My mistake Jaka, it is a nikon super coolscan 8000 ED. Oh well, I guess my tips are useful, for those of you who want a crude way of scanning your xpan negs on an 8000ED. Sorry about that.

I scan my xpan negs with a canon scanner. I move the image to the left and scan it then i move it to the right of the frame and scan it then just paste the 2 images togeather.
