Flatbed Scanner
|
I’ve been looking to buy a cheap but decent flatbed scanner. My main rig is a KM Dimage 5400II which I’m quite happy with, but lately I’ve been shooting more MF and in the near future I’m probably going to pick up a Lomo Horizon Perfekt Pan.
Any suggestions on a good flatbed scanner that can do 120mm, panoramic 35mm, or any other format? I’d really like to stay around the $300 range, possibly cheaper…if possible.

Nigel I use a Epson 4490. I use it for some of my MF scanning because it allows me to scan the rebate/edges on the film which I like.
Not as good in quality terms as a Imacon or Nikon 9000(Which I use for archiving MF) but it makes good enough scans for magazine repro and prints up to 16×12, it will aloow you to scan a strip of 3 6×6 or 6×7 so if you want to scan a panoramic size it will be able to do it. There about $300 new.

Sorry it will allow you to scan a 6×12 format in MF not 3×6x6. Plenty enough for a 35mm panoramic though.

I use the epson 4870 perfection, older model, but great for MF and 4×5, whatever the latest model is should be great

Yes Nigel that is the same scanner. $135, I suggest you get one for that price!

Thanks Erica.
Mark, I ended up ordering one. PCNation had them for $144 with free 3 day shipping, which made it cheaper than B&H. I was hoping to spend around $300, thanks to you all I got one for half the price…which means I have extra film money!!!
