Greetings,
I’m writing from The Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (Equipo Argentino de Antropología Forense, EAAF), a non-governmental, nonprofit, scientific organization that applies forensic sciences – mainly forensic anthropology and archaeology- to the investigation of human rights violations in Argentina and worldwide.
We are working on our annual report, so we’re seeking photographers and/or donated images relevant to the plight of the ‘disappeared’ or desaparecidos in the following countries:
-Argentina -Bolivia -Chile -Cyprus -Colombia -El Salvador -Mexico (here we are looking for work relevant to the Juarez women’s murders) -Morocco -Paraguay -South Africa -Uruguay -East Timor
Images that deal with the disappeared, their families, and any events or memorials or places especially relevant to them are welcome.
I’m making a request here because we’ve had a very generous and helpful response from several Lightstalkers members who have worked in Latin America—thank you for your support, and for the images you’ve donated to us!
Also, this network has proven very useful in finding new photographers who work in the same countries we do. If you know of someone who has images relevant to political disappearances in the above mentioned countries, we would also appreciate referrals to other photographers.
I will be straightforward about payment: We are seeking donated images only, because we are unable to pay market rates for your work at this time. We don’t sell our reports, but distribute them for free to our professional network (and online) at our own significant expense.
If in the future we are in a position to buy photographs at market rate from individuals, I can tell you that this is one of the first places we will look. The quality of the work that I’ve seen here is impressive.
Thank you for reading. If you want to know more about our current work, check out http://eaaf.typepad.com/annual_report_2007/. Feel free to PM me with any questions, as well.
Cheers,
Janet
