Selim Süme was born in Istanbul, 1978. He held membership in Photography Club through his study in Yıldız Technical University’s Mechanical Engineering Department. In these beginning years he tried to utilize photography as a way of self expression. He participated in the workshops of Magnus Naideman, Halil Koyutürk, Ami Vitale and Ken Light. In 2002, he completed his first project 289KD in Erzurum. Afterwards, he worked at Nikon Company for 4 years in various positions. Meanwhile he completed his two series, Island and Absence in which he investigates the question: “Who am I?” Selim continues to work on his new project “Inside The Cocoon” in which he follows the concepts of loneliness and uncertainty.
Selim currently lives and works in Istanbul.
