Set-up for keeping batteries charge on the road?
|
I am wondering what people are using in the field for keeping batteries charged. In the US, things are pretty simple, but what about wilder places with 220v at the plug to remoter, but not isolated parts of the globe? It is a basic question, but googling for various options gives nothing up in terms of managing the various voltages and charges on the road. Currently, I am looking at charging batteries for a DSLR, and the AAs for the Hyperdrive and Speedlight Flash. Any LSers care to share their set-up or approach?

Most chargers are capable of 110-220, so all you need is the plug adapter (look on the charger for the voltage input).
I carry a spare of every charger, extra cords, and of course lots of batteries.

I usually carry an inverter ,that can hook up to Mains, car cigarette lighters,or with aligator clips straight onto the cars battery.
Wherever you go someones got a car.

Hey Glenn, can you please e -mail the type of invereter you use, where you can get them,if it’s a specialist thing?
Don’t forget your C.D. of work for the L.S. night, there’s a bottle of wine in it for you ( NOT A CASK ) Dan Murphy’s does excellent $2.00 bottle’s of red,and I’m serious,as well as cheap.

if all else fails.. i used a brunton solar panel… and cigarette adaptor to keep my dslr…. storage unit… and other treaures charged in nowhere darfur this past summer… glenn makes the super relevant one though… cars will always be there…probably the safest way to shoot for power in the nowhere nowhere.. but if you are going for some purpose outside of human movement.. id go with solar panel.. but i woudl recommedn two of the small brunton foldables.. and connect them… it would take like 2 hours to fill a dslr battery this way.. (although this requires sun sun sun sun)… also good are battery cells.. outfitter sattelite sells one called “power base” which may be the most reliable way to go.. its like 1/2 an inch thick.. 8 × 11 inchs.. and stores a load of power that you can then take from with the cigarette adaptor and normal plugs etc.. this works well when you dont have sun or cant stop….
also.. if goinf to the nowheere nowhere.. bring mutilpe cigarette adaptors.. mine blew last summer in sme lorry and i ended up sol for powering my equipment.. recharging etc……….
