Shehani was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1978 and has lived in London since 1985. She has a BA in History from Cambridge and an MA in photojournalism from the London College of Communication.
She has freelanced for independent documentary companies and worked for BBC London for 3 years. She now works as a video producer for Guardian Unlimited producing short documentary-style films for the web, She is also working on a number of personal photojournalism stories and has a particular interest in the arts, culture and social change.
In 2006 her work was exhibited at Elefest and at the ‘Home’ exhibition at the Cuming Museum, London. In 2008, her Aylesbury Estate portraits were published in a collection called ‘Home’.
