shooting on borders - Ukraine

I’m curious to know whether anyone out there has tried to shoot on official border crossing points in Ukraine or other former Soviet countries and if so how did you go about getting permission? Or did you do it without permission? Please send me whatever tips you have! Thanks. -Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
I was shooting borders of Latvia and Rusia in winter and autumm time ago. The best thing is that can go to the Hedquarters of Border Guards of the country where you want to shoot and explain what you want. Kindly you will get a permit to go with them. In this countries of east Europe they are curious by the photographers want to go to the borders. Better is that you find small villages near borders and document the life there. In this case you can made friendship with border guards soon and you didnt will need the permit. Burocracy is the main way in this countries. I think that you know a little about that. If you have more deep questions please write to me (you know my personal email) and I will try to help you more.
At any case take care with this, becose shooting at borders can be a big problem. The people doesnt know you.
All the best and good luck.!
