Wheatley’s name is gone from the list of Magnum photographers. Has he left?
Would be disappointing. His Inner City Youth essay ist rad.

I don’t think that this is really our business, mr. Mikko Takkunen.
Magnum is not only a small society of close friends, but an organization with demands and operational issues also.
I am happy to hear about new entrances, sad about fled outs, but i couldn’t ask “What’s going on”, in any case.

Well, editing initial posts is certainly everybody’s contemporary right.
But doing it with a manner that the next post appears as a statement of a mentally deranged person, is something that separates responsible people from the ordinary mass.
I don’t know if you did it intentionally, mr. Mikko Takkunen, and i don’t really care about it.
The sure think though is that you apparently don’t belong to the first category.
Have a nice day.

sorry J.J.
I did not do it intentionally.
I just realized after your initial comment that maybe my original post came across as a bit too nosy and thus changed it. Didn’t mean to make you appear deranged.
maybe i should just delete the whole post. I did not realize my interest in the matter was so inaproppriate.
Apologies again.

Chill J.J. Or should that be ‘Mr. Jonnek Jonneksson’ ?
Why the aggressive response to Mikko?
|
‘Seemed like a legit question to me. There’s always some interest in the comings and goings of the photographers at Magnum. Photographers like Eugene Smith, Charles Harbutt, Mark Godfrey, James Nachewey and Eugene Richards have joined and left the agency.

eugene richards famously quit magnum twice. mikko, good man, ask away and with such polite courtousy and bountiful praise! is there any other way to ask? is this not our responsibility as inquisitive people by profession, to support and follow up with photographers whose work we admire?
checked out the essay you mentioned since i did not know it and was quite impressed.
mikko, keep finding good interesting work for me to look at. if you don’t know mikko’s blog, www.photojournalismlinks.com, its a VERY nice collection of links to grant info, photographers web sites and various other goodies.

Dear friends i am sorry.
I didn’t mean to be aggressive, but the edited post of Mikko Takkunen left mine completely in the air, something that made me think about the actual utility of post editing.
I admit that my second post was a bit rude and perhaps furious, but i assure you, it wasn’t in my intentions to be malicious.
Sorry again
Jonnek.

Hi Jonnek,
It takes a decent sort of person to apologise. One of the problems with internet forum posts is that they are so easily mis-interpreted.
Best wishes,
JR.
