Simple Website Template...any suggestions?
|
Hello,
I am looking for a website template, flash or html, easy to set up and possibly with 1)large image 2)thumbnail 3)caption possibilities for any number of gallery. 4) Works fine with most browsers (I guess as it is pretty standard system…)
If I can add on…possibly quite cheap :)
Thank you very much in advance, It seems I have read something here time ago but I lost it and can’t find it anymore at the moment.
Best,
Alex

Bludomain is a great suggestion. I also build portfolio sites for artists, makers and photographers, Create Folios. Bespoke sites, no templates. Very affordable, at least in the UK.
The important thing though, is that the site, template, company you use are right for you and right for your budget. Looking forward to seeing the site build.

Why not try Open Source-software? Drupal, WordPress and so on are easy to theme and to use. Modules suitable for photographers (both gallery-related and for selling images) are free, easy to install and easy to maintain.
Please, don’t use Flash. If you do, keep it simple ;-) There are far to many “fancy” Flash sites where users get lost in the complex logic that is “fancy design”.

simple flash for folio plus a wordpress blog / photoblog would be a great solution for you.

fotoebook is how my site is powered. it’s very simple and also cheap.

Try clikpic ( www.clikpic.com). Not the most fancy but affordable and almost endlessly customisable. They have slideshow feature and/or thumbnail galleries. Basic html skills can change it all around pretty much to your heart’s content an easy picture upload, no ftp!
this is how i customised my site www.damoncoulter.com

Good tip Damon. I have clients who have used ClikPic, so long as you can handle the basics of file formats, and create links etc, which most photogs can, you’re going to do just great with ClikPic. It’s a great place to start, although eventually, a good quality bespoke site is the way to go, as your career develops.

True, I’m finding some limits now to the changes I want to make to designs but still for think for the money clikpic is hard to beat to get you out there with a pretty decent looking site.
