JiwaFoto Agency is a photojournalistic agency that I set up at the end of 2001. As a photo agency, we cover social, cultural and political news from Indonesia. We have also been hired for both national and international companies producing photos for corporate brochures and social development programs. Please visit us at www.jiwafoto.com.
In 2005, the World Press Photo Foundation in the Netherlands approached us to develop the first Indonesian photojournalism institute. In early 2006, we opened Panna (pronounced Pa-nya) Institute of Photography to the public as a non-profit Institute. Panna’s goal is to educate and train photojournalists not only in photography basics but also by devising training programs that stimulate real-life market conditions and situations. To this day, we have run numerous workshops and seminars.
In order to improve the standards of Indonesian photojournalists, we took on the initiative in making a festival which caters to the development and showcasing of local work. From this though, Indonesia Photojournalism Festival (IPF) was born. IPF ‘s mission is to strengthen the core values and understanding of photojournalism in Indonesia. We support and encourage proper journalism and business ethics and provide the necessary support for both newcomers and current photojournalists.
