Funnily enough, when I hit the deck the camera kept rolling…according to the Greenpeace media folk, the soundtrack makes the blood run cold…’cos I was a bit ahem, vocal. Maybe I’ll use it on my answering machine.

When I got dragged into the trauma unit X Ray room, I was still wearing a drysuit with a big ‘Greenpeace’ logo on it.

The radiographer popped his head round the lead shield and said:

“I bet you’re not protesting about radiation now, eh?”...

that’s freakin’ awesome. i bet you didn’t think it was that funny with half your shinbone poking out though, right?

Ed, I was breathing a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide at the time, so had a bit of a chuckle…

‘Makes me want to kick a football with my left foot. How’s that sound? Juuuust kidding. My 9-year old son went thru 11 hours of back surgery about four weeks ago. He was on morphine for about five days but then got the bad itches from it. ‘Had to take him off of it. Did the morphine give you the itches after a while? ‘Just curious. What a nightmare you’ve been thru. Good luck!!

Ouuuuch! Mate, nasty…hope he’s doing alright. Yeah, itching is a common side effect – the morphine made me itch badly, feel sick and didn’t do that much for the pain to be honest.

People take that stuff for pleasure? Beats me.

This’ll make it a little hard for you to kick ass for a while!
