SIPA Photog Olivier Jobard beaten/arrested in Greece

This is sad to hear. I wish Olivier a quick recovery and a victory at trial.

I had trouble with police in Patra as well.
They took me to the police station and make me delete the picture with the policeman.
I was shooting them because they were disturbing few afghan guys at the beach in front of the refugees camp.
And the day after they stop me again close to the port area.

Police “officers” in Greece are the worst kind of creatures in the animal kingdom.

THE WORST.

The reason that they react in such a violent way with photographers (pros or amateurs) is because journalists, in general, had uncover a lot of “dirty actions” the last 20-30 years, and they think that using violence every governmental or official action of injustice is going to remain covered up.

They are idiot bastards. Totally idiot and completely remote controlled by the dictatorship-style police system.

They pay 1200 euro from their own salary just to buy a top-notch-hot-cool Harry Callahan gun (and i don’t mean the photographer Callahan..), because the one that the Police Service provides to them is kind of an old model and relatively small.

The old “officers” are big deal into corruption and the younger ones think that they are the new chiefs of the town.

In Greece no sane people feel really safe and protected by them because almost everyday there is a story in the news about a cop that beat someone, or worked at nightclubs as a thug for “protection”, or usurp crime-money or drugs, participating in crimes, kill someone by “accident” and so on.

They are totally untrustworthy because they are very low-educated and partially trained.

When they beat photographers and brake cameras they actually enjoy it, while at the same time they deeply believe they are doing the right thing.

Actually, just yesterday, in the evening news there was a story regarding a young cop who stabbed a man in the chest (targeting his heart) because they had a fight for a parking place.

The man had escaped death because of pure luck..

The people that where Nazi collaborators ,traitors ,murderers ,scams, overall are today the ruling class in Greece like in the rest of the world also .they hide their crimes and hypocrisy under orthodoxy and an ex elegant civilization and history here In Greece.

They made their money by steeling the property of the Jews and gave them to the Nazis in the second world war to be executed, by gaining power and more money from forces that fought communism after that in the Greek civil war by killing their brothers so that the pore couldn’t raise their heads against them , by became more ruthless in time particularly in the dictatorship later , where again they made more money and become more powerful .
Those people are today politicians judges businessman and their dirty opeying fascist dogs the policemen.
The lowest of all scams.
Because they were born poor and belong to the working class.
But it seems that man is also capable of serving a master with more will than a dog.
My grandfather fought them in the civil war , my mother in the dictarship, and I raise my hands today because they are established so well.
They don’t understand much of a camera and are not afraid of journalist. They know in the end they will be the winners in a game where they make the rules and the corrupted “democracy “is there to support them.
The biggest irony is that today they call themselves democrats those fascist because they have brought the state to their measures.
The only thing that they are afraid is power but from people how have more power than they.
Anyhow if you have problems with them contact immediatetly with your embassy’s because I’m afraid there is not much to be done by Greek journalist unions because they don’t have the power or are totally corrupted and people of the same specie .
I myself have already to many problems with them and I am tired to hit the wall over and over again where there is no result .
They don’t touch me for political reasons but they break my balls anyway they can.
