slow thumbnails /help / iBook G4
I recently switched from PC to mac iBook G4 and looking for photos in my archives (on CDs) is a big headake!! It takes ages!!! to generate thumbnails from any CD. Is there anything I can/should do to be able to see thumbnails quicker . PC does generate thumbnails of same pictures very quick.
thanks for ANY advice

consider archiving your images on hard drives instead. they wont be as slow. plus, the cds get scratched easily and will degrade with time.

photo mechanic brilliant….for quick viewing, editing, mass conversion from tiff to jpg….etc. initial switchover from pc to mac not always immediate glory. (like the elusive right click) but you WILL love it

in all finder windows, there should be three buttons on the upper left coner—allowing you to toggle beteen icon, list and nested, view. if you click on the nested view, just click though the folders to the image you want. a thumbnail comes up immediately in the window.
there’s also a way to make a thumbnail icon of every image .. but i really dont remember how to do that .. and i belive it would have to be done before you burn the cd.
or just use an image viewer program ….

and do not forget about iView.
