Hello,
My move to Boston has created a staff opening at the Valley News in West Lebanon, New Hampshire.
This is a great paper in a beautiful part of the country. Photography is well respected here, and the photo staff is given plenty of time to work on projects.
If you have any questions I’d be happy to help answer them. The official posting is below.
Best, Channing
The Valley News is seeking a staff photographer to join its five-person photo staff.
The Valley News is an award-winning 17,500 daily morning newspaper on the Vermont/New Hampshire border. Owned by Newspapers of New England (the Concord Monitor and Greenfield Recorder are part of the same group), the paper covers a region that includes 46 towns in four counties; the area’s core includes Hanover and Lebanon, N.H., White River Junction, Vt., and Dartmouth College.
The newspaper is known for its documentary photography and encourages different perspectives. The newspaper values staff photos and displays them prominently.
The staff photographer will be working with the newspaper’s other two full-time staff photographers, photo intern and photo editor to cover a range of assignments and enterprise work. The photo staff produces at least two picture pages a week.
The Valley News is fully digital one camera body, two lenses and a flash are provided to each photographer for use on the job. The newspaper also has pool lighting equipment and a sports lens. Computer work is done on a Macintosh system.
The incoming photographer must supply an insured car. Mileage is reimbursed.
Please send a cover letter, resume, salary requirements and a portfolio of about 20 single images and two or three stories. Please send a cover letter, resume and portfolio on CD. Portfolios will not be returned without an SASE.
The deadline for applications is June 15, 2007.
Please send your application to: Geoff Hansen, Photo/Graphics Editor Valley News P.O. Box 877 White River Jct., Vt. 05001
