Stuart Isett is an American freelance photographer based in Seattle,
USA. After spending 12 years working in Asia & Europe, based in Bangkok, Tokyo and Paris, he moved to Seattle in 2006. He still travels and works in Asia and recently finished a 3 year project on Kyoto titled ‘Kyotoland’ which was shown at the Reportage Festival in Sydney in 2005 and the Daegu Photo Biennale in 2006.
His Lightstalkers gallery shows recent work on Cambodian gang members deported from the United States; this is part of a project Isett started in the early 1990s when he photographed the same gangs in Chicago and Southern California and continues today as he follows four young Cambodian men in Seattle facing deportation. Images from both eras are below and will be show at the 2007 Visa Pour L’Image in Perpignan.
Born in Switzerland in 1966, and raised in the UK, Stuart Isett has a Masters Degree in Photography from Columbia College in Chicago. He is represented in New York by Polaris Images. He lives in Seattle with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Zoe.
