joop swart masterclass, the ways of submitting the portfolios?

Dear Members,

I am a photojournalist based in Turkey, and Joob Swart Masterclass has been an important target in my career. I have been waiting to have a rich portfolio for the subscription, and i feel ready. But till now in Turkey there has been no announcements about the submitting of the portfolios for this year. I know that there are 18 comities which suggest one photographer each. If anyone knows any information of how to participate the evaluation process it would be great to hear the comments and experiences.

i dont believe there is any submission of portfolio. if i understand correctly, the attendees are nominated by somebody and then, if selected, participate. im assuming you would be nominated by someone you have worked for who feels they want to champion your cause. at least, i know one person nominated and that was how it happened.

Yes, Kenneth is right. You have to be nominated by some one. There should many people from your region who can nominate you.

I have followed the last class by internet, and i have seen that the way you are telling Munef, is the proper way to follow. As far as i know you were working in a Bangladesh agency, and ofcourse i dont know how the rest did occur. but anyway, many respect to your work and style. i was pretty much attracted by your honesty in your pictures.

on the other hand in Turkey things are little bit complicated, there is no need to talk about this complication here, i will try to do it with photography…but anyway we dont have many publishings or agencies. I am obsesed by having the control of the whole work so that i kept my self away from interacting with the common market. I also developed financial sources for personal projects which gave me some freedom. but at this time i am lacking contacts which i wouldn’t really care if it wasnt on my way right now. I am even thinking of grabbing my portfolio and dreams and knocking the door of WPP. Well this choice will remain as the last one to go.
