About

Creative Migration is a non-profit organization using new media to promote social change through artistic means. We focus on emerging, interdisciplinary art on a global scale.

.

Creative Migration is launching an original online documentary series in the Fall of 2008. Our aim is to present individuals promoting social change through artistic means and to inspire our audience to do the same.

The first episodes will feature the art collective Red76 from Portland, OR and their evolving project on the concept of “Revolutionary Spirit.” We are documenting their activities in New York City. In late September 2008, Red76 created a collective editorial office in the historical tavern within the Park Avenue Armory for Creative Time’s DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA project. The ongoing publication they make is called “The Journal of Radical Shimming” (JRS), and its purpose is to demonstrate “how politics enters into our everyday lives, and how our everyday lives can effectively alter our political system.” JRS was also a part of the Printed Matter book fair in late October.

This series is currently the main programming for Creative Migration.
.

Creative Migration – an original online documentary series: “to inspire action by taking action ourselves …”

How do they do it? In the face of a harsh economy, political unrest and war, these individuals pursue their dreams, with little or no money involved, in order to create a life worth living. To enjoy what they do, to create because they have to, not for any other reason.

Watch these inspiring individuals who just keep at it, day after day, chasing the dream and sometimes catching it. These are stories of friends, strangers, members of a community at large, who can’t help but create, take action, change lives: one by one, bit by bit.
