EN-4 Batteries

I am having trouble with the EN-4 battery. They do not hold their charge for very long. I am using Nikon and the Delkin batteries. I was told by the Nikon Rep. that the problem was with the charger and using the refresh mode. I was told that if you use the refresh mode three times in a row it will kill the battery.

Has any one had this problem?
