Photographer | visual artist | dreamer. Based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Tatiana Cardeal graduated from São Paulo’s Visual Arts University in the 90’s.
She worked for more than 10 years as art director and graphic designer for big Brazilian magazines and newspapers publishers (Elle, Placar, Nova Escola magazines, Folha de São Paulo and Notícias Populares newspaper publishers).
During this period she received three April Journalism Awards (Prêmio Abril de Jornalismo 2000, 2003 and 2004) and the Esso Journalism Award (Prêmio Esso de Jornalismo 2003). More recently, in 2007 and 2008 she was nominated for the All Roads Photography Program of National Geographic Society.
Since 2005 she has concentrated her activities in the production of photography, mostly documentary. In this area she produces interpretations through visual pursuit, a photography that seeks the humanity existing through different socio-cultural identities with emphasis on environment and inequality. She specializes in in-depth documentary projects that investigate the development of a visual language that improves the social/human development, prioritizing her work with NGOs, Foundations, Institutes and Universities, culture and education.
Her clients and publications include work with Amnesty International, Childhood Foundation, OXFAM International, The UN Institute for Disarmament Research, Forum Syd, The Big Issue, New Internationalist and YES! Magazines; The Independent and WOZ newspapers, National Geographic Channel, Deutsche Welle, Courrier International, Plenty, Tomorrow, AFAR, WIENERIN, and Max magazines.
