Tech question: how to repair corrupted Jpeg's (Mac)

Does any of you Mac techies know software to repair damaged or truncated or corrupted jpeg’s? I have some jpeg’s which only show up half or partly in every different image viewer I have tried on my mac… Recovery from the CF card is impossible, the files are on my HD.

Guido, I had the same thing happen to me in 2000. Eight years later and I have not yet found a solution. I keep hope alive tho, still have those files in case a solution ever presents itself.

The files were corrupted because of a corrupetd directory structure on the CF card they came from, most likely. The normal computer operating system couldn’t make “sense” of the directory, and so pulled the files incorrectly. (Doesn’t matter if it’s Mac or Win, by the way…)

The data recovery process starts by trying to recreate a valid directory, and then pulling the data from the source (the card) and building the files correctly. Thus, without the source (the card) you have nothing to work with.

Sorry to crush hope, but without the source of the data, you’ve got none.
