Some of the earliest work in photography was
in the exploration of movement.
The ability of a photograph to render a moment
removed from time, 1/2000th-of-a-second piece
of life, became the signature of photography.
“The decisive moment”, that point in time when
the shutter is released became our notion of
what movement is.
…but that denies what was before that moment, what followed.
Photography can also record images as a part of the
fabric of time, not removed, not
extracted, but immersed, surrounded…
the moment in context.
