The Porterville Recorder, a 9,500-circulation daily covering Sortheastern Tulare County, Calif., has an immediate opening for an entry level full-time photojournalist. The successful candidate will possess the smart energy and creative passion to round out our award-winning photo staff. Responsibilities include shooting news, sports, feature and enterprise for The Recorder and our Spanish-language publication, Noticiero Semanal. The Recorder is currently adding video and other multimedia components to our Web site, so experience in producing audio slide shows and video is a big plus. Portfolios need to demonstrate technical proficiency showing versatility, creativity and good use of light in all situations. Applicants must have their own reliable transportation. Night and weekend shifts are expected. Applicants must be able to work well under deadline pressure. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field is desired. Appropriate professional experience may be deemed an acceptable substitute.
Porterville is a gateway community to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the Golden Trout Wilderness Area and the Giant Sequoia National Monument.
