The Rory Peck Awards 2008

Freelance cameramen and camerawomen working in TV newsgathering can enter The Rory Peck Awards, an international competition honoring journalists for their skills, initiative and courage. The deadline to enter is September 2.

The Rory Peck Awards is the main fundraiser for The Rory Peck Trust, which supports freelance journalists and their families in times of need to promote their safety. The award accepts submissions from all freelancing broadcasters whose work was published between August 1, 2007 to July 31, 2008.

Three awards will be granted: the news award will highlight the work of a freelancer who has covered “on-the-day” news; the feature award will honor an in-depth piece; and The Impact Award will focus on news footage of humanitarian issues.
