The Texarkana Gazette, a 32,000 circulation regional daily covering Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas, has an immediate opening for an entry level full time photojournalist. The right applicant will possess the smart energy and creative passion to round out our award winning three shooter photo staff. Responsibilities include shooting news, sports, feature and enterprise. The Gazette is moving into video and other multimedia products for our website, so experience in producing audio slideshows and video is a plus. Portfolios need to demonstrate technical proficiency showing versatility, creativity and good use of light in all situations. The paper provides a Nikon D2h body, flash and camera allowance, but you will have to supply lens. The Gazette provides some other pool equipment including laptop, lighting kits, video camera and audio. Applicants must have their own reliable transportation. Night and weekend shifts are expected. Applicants must be able to work well under deadline pressure.
Texarkana, a border city on the state line of Arkansas and Texas, offers applicants unique and diverse opportunities in coverage. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field is desired. Appropriate professional experience may be deemed an acceptable substitute.
