A sad but wonderful story. So representative of present pressures on traditional medias.

Steven, thanks for posting this. Honestly, this makes me feel so sad, not just for the newspaper and its staff, but really for the state of newspaper journalism in general. It has been echoed to me a number of times that one day newspapers will disappear. Stories like that of the AT are making it seem like a reality I was not hoping to witness in my lifetime. I began my career as a newspaper photographer. Exaggerations aside, I truly learned something new every single day. I love the smell of the newspaper and I actually like the ink rubbing off on my fingers. The good news is as long as it was alive, the AT made a mark, a permanent mark. I hope it’s staff go on to other good things in their life.
