Here’s a long post from a while back concerning, as I thought at the time, the imminent end to my photojournalism career. I’ve been at home with my kids since then but I’m gearing up for a final attempt to re-capture what I once had, starting in September. This time I’m not going to chicken out of making those calls and pounding the pavement etc.. I’ve gotta do it for my kids at the very least.

It’s a good thread. Worth reading. Keeps me focused for sure. Thanks to everyone who posted.

Hmmm… er wasn’t it the infamous Tyler Hicks post?

by lisa hogben | 30 Jul 2007 12:07 | Sydney, Australia |
Yeah That’s right. The saga of all saga’s.
http://www.lightstalkers.org/pdn_article_by_tyler_hicks

There are quite a few demons that were spawned of it that went on for ever also. http://www.lightstalkers.org/the__garbage_dump__story__complete_explanation

If any of these ever resurrected we will be forsaken by God and left to rot in hell.

by Ali Riza Kutlu | 31 Jul 2007 00:07 | Toronto, Canada |
That Nikon V Canon topic spread out over several threads from time to time.

Sorry Gayle, I did turn around three times and spat before I typed the name…

by lisa hogben | 31 Jul 2007 04:07 | Sydney, Australia |

no sign of Bettlejuice yet…

by Gayle Hegland | 31 Jul 2007 12:07 | Montana, United States |
“Beetlejuice” “Beetlejuice” “Beetlejuice”

Ah shit What have I done.

by Mark Seager | 31 Jul 2007 12:07 | London, United Kingdom |
Some of the picture threads went on for ages too. I’ll see what I can find.

by Paul Treacy | 31 Jul 2007 12:07 | New York City, United States |
Hey Mark what you’ve done is turn this thread into the longest for being (and no disrespect intended Siddharth!) inconsequential.

Hey everybody Mark is responsible!

by lisa hogben | 31 Jul 2007 13:07 | Sydney, Australia |
So what’s wrong with inconsequential? Think about it: most of the world’s troubles are caused by people who think they have to be consequential all the time. You never heard of a war started by an accordion player, have you? I rest my case.

by Akaky | 31 Jul 2007 14:07 | New York, United States |
The Blue thread went on the longest that I remember.

Oh Mark! lol

by Gayle Hegland | 31 Jul 2007 16:07 | Montana, United States |
Wasn’t the Iraqi war started by an accordian player?

by Gayle Hegland | 31 Jul 2007 16:07 | Montana, United States |
Ah to hell with consequences. So which one of the Neo-Cons plays the accordian then?

Old Beetlejuice is taken his time. Lets try this instead!

Candyman Candyman Candyman Candyman……..Ah nothing. Never did believe in Urban legends anyway.

by Mark Seager | 31 Jul 2007 16:07 | London, United Kingdom |
Oh, when did you become such cynic, Mark? oh, tsk, tsk! (o:

by Gayle Hegland | 31 Jul 2007 17:07 | Montana, United States |
That comes with old age. I used to be a realist but you get pushed around being a realist so why not become a cynic…it’s much more fun.

And do you have any work for me? Please visit my website at www.longestthread.co.uk

out of theme…
Hello Siddharth,
for someone who is a photographer for something more than two years you are a very interesting one.
You have the good “material” in your hands and good approaching.
India. A lot of color and people.
My “india” is very limited here in the “west” mostly on poor gypsies and minorities ,one of the ways to work color in a country sourounded by grayness and laws how protect individuals from photographers.(The poor people believe they are protected and not watched . )
But that is another story.
I personally like Harry Gruyaerts work from india he is inspiring me a lot and sure from many others.
I put you on my network.

Bye

George

VII/MAGNUM/NYT/NG/JOHNVINK/PAOLO/ME (well we need at least ONE GODDESS!)

by lisa hogben | 01 Aug 2007 11:08 | Sydney, Australia |
Yeah Leica M9 Is it any good? or not!

by Mark Seager | 01 Aug 2007 11:08 | London, United Kingdom |

by J-F Vergel | 01 Aug 2007 12:08 | New York, United States |
Doesn’t anyone have any work to do? If you’re all not careful I’ll start extolling the virtues of my D200 !!!!!!! P (trying to make this the longest thread and hence end the conversation)

by Paul Blandford | 01 Aug 2007 12:08 | in a bar in Addias, Ethiopia |
Not working until tonight Paul-that D200, what do you think about the drive grip? (only joking!!)

by John Watts-Robertson | 01 Aug 2007 12:08 | planet earth, United Kingdom |
about as good as a chocolate teapot, I have high hopes for the d300’s being just as bad P

by Paul Blandford | 01 Aug 2007 12:08 | in a bar in Addias, Ethiopia |
