the versatile journalist
|
was surprised to see this feature in the nytimes magazine – http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/02/magazine/02rubin.t.html?hp – by lynn hirschberg, a well-known magazine writer. what surprised me is the photo credit under the quite professional-looking portrait of rick rubin: lynn hirschberg. i don’t know many top-drawer writers who are also very good photographers (and vice versa). do you? any opinions on great multitasking/versatile journalists. . . ?

Robert Fisk makes a good photograph from time to time.

I just read that piece in the Wash Post by Matt Mendelsohn, previously a staff photojournalist and now a wedding photographer. It was very well written. It’s linked from the alerts section as “Confessions of a wedding photographer”.

There are lots of photographers that have shot and written for Nat Geo. David Doublet, the underwater shooter recently wrote and shot a piece. Several others.
|
How about David Alan Harvey” He’s a wonderful photographer, or course, but he also writes very well as you can see at his blog.
|
Jon Anderson, Sion Touhig and many others….

Michael Kamber for the New York Times

hmmmmmmm, dont know any ;))))))

Well, I get paid to do both – I’m hardly top-ranking tho.

Akaky. Read his post in the Whiskey or Gin thread.

I think the pic on the web site was mis-credited to the writer, Lynn Hirschberg. The print magazine credits the images from the Rubin article to Dan Winters.
|
candace, that makes sense. that portrait definitely has winters’ style.
