Thieves at Fashion Week
Just something to be aware of: I’ve heard stories about photographers having gear stolen during Fashion Week in NYC. One in particular had his lenses (and iPod) snatched out of his bag, a la pick-pocket technique, while shooting a show in the tents.
As a member of this community i find it disturbing, that a photojournalist can travel the world, staying in some of the most dangerous regions, only to come back home and have his gear lifted while among his peers.
Sure, there are isolated incidents in any situation, but there are have been other reports of some person or group who was "working" the tents.
I guess the lesson is: get insurance!

I haven’t heard about this, but have heard about several wedding photographers in San Francisco having everything stolen at high end venues while they are shooting… It’s hard to watch your gear and shoot.

we may suggest RSF to include fashion shows to the “dangerous spots” list…. the real danger of fashion…
....I’m sorry for the photographers who have been stolen.

"...photojournalist can travel the world, staying in some of the most dangerous regions, only to come back home and have his gear lifted while among his peers." that`s because we all fell relaxed at home, it`s our "playground" and whan we are abroad, or in hostile areas, we take extra care about everything. Thieves are everywhere, no matter if they are domestic or foreign, thieves are thieves…
