Tibet and Western China

Hi, I’m heading to Western China tomorrow (Lanzhou), near the border of Tibet – anyone going that way, or with contacts in that region?

Word I get is that the Chinese government has closed access by foreigners to the region, stopped them well before they got to Tibet. So be prepared.
