Not sure if this is going to turn out to be a really basic question… but I was trying to configure my 5d mkii to mirror the focus/AE settings on the 1d mkiii.

I would like the shutter button, when half pressed, to lock focus, but then not to lock Auto Exposure. On the 1d I have the C.FnIV:Operation/Others setting 1, set to 0 – i.e. ‘Shutter Button/AF-ON buton = 0:Metering + AF start’. This then behaves exactly as I want it to.

On the 5d though, I have programmed exactly the same setting, but when I press the shutter button halfway, not only does it lock focus, but it also locks the exposure, so if I then re-frame, the exposure can be off…

Anyone have any ideas? I read through the manual, and tested each of the possible 4 settings in that custom menu, and none of them seem to match the behaviour of the 1d.
