TOBY MADDEN

Started professionally in Ecuador at the El Hoy newspaper in Quito in 2003. Moved back to London and after a stint at the National News Agency I worked at The Independent and Independent on Sunday newspaper up until early this year. I gave up to explore the freelance world and pursue my own stories in more depth and with greater personal control.
I try and concentrate on social stories – at home and abroad – this year I concentrated on the life of a young ‘grime’ artist called Dollar Da Dustman. What started as a small one month project is changing into one which requires and would benefit from a greater timeline.
I am currently on my travels starting a two-year project focusing on childbirth, fertility rights and rites and maternal/infant mortality around the world.
