UNICEF POY North America

Hihi All, I wanted to put this post out as separate from the main posting as I’m afraid it’ll be buried and really I’m wanting this to call attention with a bit more resonance than a posting within a post. The original post has a lot of good info so, as not to confuse it with the main posting, if you’re looking for more info please visit this link:

I’m writing to call further attention to my section, North America, which I’ve received few submissions for; meanwhile I’ve received, mistakenly more from other regions than I have for North America, so, as is too often the case, I fear that North America with all of the important issues that it faces concerning children is going overlooked. I invite anyone who has taken photos which they think shows insight into the realities that children face in North America to please submit your work to me. (And for those who already have, thank you.) Looking forward to seeing what you have, all the best,
Jake

As far as submitting work this seems to be the recipie that we’ve all agreed on so please follow these guidelines (I prefer zipped jpegs):

Please send 5-10 zipped images along with a brief summary of the project and captions. * Individual image size be jpegs on 8 quality at 72 dpi at 1050px at their longest. * You can also submit a pdf file of the pictures for the initial round. * Those that we choose to nominate are then provided the entry forms that they fill out and submit with files/prints, as per instructions therein. The final out put for these images will have to be sent to Germany, it has been proposed that the file size must be: jpeg on 8 quality at 200 dpi at 1600px at their longest.

I would like to reinforce what Jake is saying
here. I have wanted to ask, “Is there anyone
out there?”

East Asia is full of rich stories and I have
received one inquiry. What?!

If I were younger and not on the nomination
committee, I would be all over this great
opportunity to share work.

East Asia submissions go to James Whitlow Delano
at james.delano@pep.ne.jp. Please observe
the submission sizes above. Thank you.

Sorry to be a little dense here, but do you choose which nominator to send to based on where the Photographer is from, or the subject matter? Thanks to both of you!

Hihi Anna Maria,
No worries, it’s a common question. You should contact the person in the region where the work was produced.

Hihi all,
I’m wanting to bump this back up there again and now echo James, who ahem, was echoing me. I think the echo metaphor here is apt as so far I’ve reveived so little on a subject that is so vast and important. For those of you who have submitted, many thanks for giving em the opportunity to look at your work.

While I’ve seen some work I know so much more is out there, so where is it? I am pretty amazed that I’m receiving so little. Just about eveywhere you go yo hear someone bitching about the media not doing its job, well here’s an excellent opportunity to get your vision and the issues you care deeply about out there and so no more excuses about lack of opportunity.

Also, to any of those who have seen strong work by someone who may not know of this please have them get in touch with me. Again, here are the submission guidelines and my contact info. All the best and thanks,
Jake
